Our History
Sunday, May 24, 1959, Beacon Baptist Church organized in Burleson Elementary School on Golder Street in Odessa, TX, with eighteen charter members.
On April 18, 1961, Mr. Brown of Brown Well Service Company of Odessa donated a 30 x 80 foot building to Beacon for a church building.  On April 25, 1961, Beacon purchased two lots at 2121 E. 9th street.  On May 16, 1961, the building was moved onto the lots.
On August 15, 1990, in a regular business meeting, a motion was made to look into purchasing the property at 25th and Grandview.  On May 8, 1991, the pastor, Bro. Amon Langston, announced that the bid had been accepted on the property.  November 27, 1991, Beacon Baptist Church held their first service at 2119 N. Grandview.
We have been meeting here since 1991.  Bro. Amon Langston was our pastor until he retired in 2010.

Beacon called Bro. Mark Kirby as pastor on April 10, 2011.  Bro. Kirby grew up in The Colony, TX.  He has been in the ministry for 25 years.  He has served as a youth and children's pastor, family counselor, and senior pastor.  He and his wife, Cindy, have three children:  Andrew, Justin, and Amanda.
